Delta hedging of a leap year...

I am child of bewilderness. I make hundred plans and cancel several thousand others every day. I may take ages to make a simple decision like choosing my mobile number but do huge things in a jiffy. I think I will someday do something really crazy overnight. As such, I recall, most of big shocks or so called events in my life happened overnight only.

I got my first boyfriend overnight..just like that out of a drunk confession. I did some crazy near death thing overnight- actually I wasn't really awake to know what happened. I’ve also found myself randomly out of nowhere in a police station overnight, I got mugged by a strange turn of events on highway..just overnight…and last I checked, I lost my boyfriend too overnight….just like that, overnight, I was single. O.V.E.R.N.I.G.H.T.

Without getting into intricacies of how I feel about my overnight mishaps, I would say I like them, though the track record sucks. Just one good thing of most of what I recall. Anyway, it was about leap year and not nights. I like leap years. They are special.

Though they may be taken as a clear manifestation of compromise. They are like..
” Okay if you don’t want it, you don’t want it and you too don’t want it, I will take it” They take brunt of killing a perfect matrix of February. I wonder why it’s called a leap. A leap to account for extra time we have or a leap to blame on the bad mathematics which could not make a calibration that would make 364-1/4 a whole number of day and make things perfect..but yeah perfect is no fun, nor will they separate better from rest. Leap years are those better beings which accept delta to make things near perfect.

This delta is very important by the way. I learnt its importance all my life and now it became apparent in business with delta hedging.

Most of our good regrets are based on delta between what we got and what we wanted. A delta more marks in exams, a delta push in time, a delta more love in person and or a delta more fine. A delta bit of circumstances, a delta of more effort, a delta luck or delta more trust…...and its more difficult when you are delta short than when you need delta more. This may sound same but there’s a delta variation and that actually makes all the difference! Its a pea of the princess…

This takes me to my last wacky wish, which was to get married on 29th Feb in Vegas. This has to be fun. Also, going by the tradition that women may propose marriage only on leap years, this was so fitting, I could have pulled off the unconventional provided the man I wooed was at least half as much in love and equally crazy. Now it doesn't look possible considering its 29th Feb already and I don’t see anything happening…unless it is overnight! So period. I am not getting married on 29th Feb…Sigh…

Okay so next event is I can have a baby on 29th Feb 2020. Sounds super cool, the first baby can be a 2020 baby!I think this I will be able to pull off … Let’s get a leapling baby!

Hum koi waqt nahi hain humdum, jab bulaoge chale aayenge...

This was probably my first encounter with beauty of words. Then I delved deeper and with each Ghazal, the appreciation deepened. The synonym of ghazals and nazms- Jagjit Singh passed away today. Its a life well led. One after another, i sifted through my playlist and couldn't decide which was the best ghazal... It started with 'Tere khat' where i would find myself deep in thoughts of eternal love...What beauty! "Tere khat aj mein ganga mein baha aaya hoon.... aag behte hue paani ko laga aaya hoon..." and then it slowly found its way throuh 'Arth' and 'Saath-Saath' As he would slowly conclude with "Kyun samajhti ho mujhe bhool nahi paogi," I would be filled with mixed feelings of if he is mocking at her helplessness or pushing her to liberation. The urge of "Ek zara haath badha de to pakad le daaman, uske seene mein sama jaaye hamari dhadkan, itni qurbat hai to itna faasla kyun hai" the difficultly of grasping core urd

Lacklessness of a Yes

"No." Its not just a word; it's a complete sentence in itself... This dialogue got its overdue appreciation in the hindi movie 'Pink' wherein a lawyer is trying to point out meaning of No on behalf of the protagonist and all women in general... He says this regarding consent and how a simple No is a sentence in itself in all matters of will and accord. I completely agree with it though that's not what this post is about. That's the trigger of my particular thought which got pronounced in following months after watching the movie. My thought was a complete antithesis of the point presented. Later I happen to be attending a training where it came up how one must be assertive and not hesitate when they want to say No. This is known to be a very common problem it seems that people find it difficult to say No. It maybe to reject someone's idea or proposal or in general extends to all experiences in professional and personal life. Last nail on coffi

Thank you for not raping me...

It's close to a year since that happened. A cold as well as cozy new year's eve....We just saw the sky lit up with fireworks celebrating onset of new year. A landmark we ink in our brains with numerous resolutions,  starts, breaks and what not. A need to be away from what we do all year long took me to a drive instead of a party and that's when it happened... Highway...mishap...robbers...car stopped..dragged out...thirty minutes of captivity..or did years pass...some lost money, few stolen valuables, scars that last actually and factually- both. Parting dialogue " Ye to hum the toh ladki ko nahi chua warna yahan aur gangs hain jo chhodti nahi hai" I did something I can totally understand now. What happens to be my only or one of the rare instances of folding hands in gratitude in front of someone, I said "Thank you for not raping me." What is ironic is that it was a Mumbai highway, not my very own city-the rape capital of India-Delhi. What is ironic
